Stunning effects with stabilzed aluminium foam

Alusion is a form of Stabilized Aluminum Foam. The patented process for creating Alusion starts with a metal matrix composite – an aluminum alloy to which ceramic particles have been added. Once melted, the aluminum alloy is poured into a foaming box. Gas bubbles exiting immersed rotating impellers (a component of the air injection system) form the foam. The foam collects on the surface of the molten material, where it can be continuously drawn off to form a sheet. The foam structure is predominantly closed cell. The cell size is controlled by the gas flow rate, impeller design and impeller rotational speed. The rate and means by which the gas is introduced can be varied to produce foams with varying densities.

Genesis PD uses Alusion together with (transparant) epoxy. Combined with colored LED's specteculair light effects can be realized.

 

 

Alusion Sheet Products
Alusion is produced in continuously cast sheet 4’ (1.22m) wide which is cut to 8’ (2.44m) lengths. Longer lengths can be produced if sufficient quantities are required.

Lengths
The standard sheet length is 8' (2.44m). Alusion can be cut to other lengths, as required.

Widths
Standard and maximum width is 4' (1.22m). We can cut to other widths, as required.

Thickness
Standard thickness is 0.5" (12.7mm) and 1" (25.4mm). Note: Alusion Translucent is available in 0.5" (12.7mm) only.

Cellular Structure
Alusion is available in two cellular structures or cell sizes, simply defined as small and large. Small and large cell Alusion foam offer differing visual effects and acoustic properties. Both are available in 0.5” and 1.0” thickness (12.7mm and 25.4mm).

Product Offering
Alusion sheets come off of the continuous casting line with a continuous skin on both sides of the sheet. We refer to this as Natural. We remove this skin to produce Open Cell. The skin can be removed from one or both sides dependent upon the use of the product and desired effect
